The Governing Body has three main roles:

  • Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
  • Holding executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils, and the performance management of staff;
  • Overseeing the financial performance of the organisation and making sure its money is well spent.

Governors carry out these roles through various committees and visits to the Academy. This enables them to understand the wealth of Academy data and ask appropriate questions, to build up good relationships with the staff and to contribute to the self-evaluation processes.

The following committees have been established to meet regularly and report to the Trustees – Local Advisory Board, Audit Risk and Finance, Admissions
