The South Lincolnshire Academies Trust (SLAT) are fully committed to staff recruitment and career development. We have an excellent record of staff retention and promoting and developing staff from within the Trust. We recognise that the successful appointment and induction of an Early Career Teacher (ECT) into one of our schools strongly contributes to both the development of the Trust and the ECT. ECTs bring new ideas and fresh approaches to teaching. In turn, the Trust endeavours to develop and nurture a promising career.

SLAT has chosen to deliver an ECF-based (Early Careers Framework), Full Induction Programme, in partnership with L.E.A.D Teaching School Hub and Keystone. Our ECTs not only have access to high quality external training conducted by L.E.A.D and ECF materials produced by the Education Development Trust, but they also have access to a rigorous in-house training and support programme.

All of our ECTs have a subject-based mentor who works with them on a day-to-day basis and supports them with the completion of ECF components through weekly meetings. As well as this, in each of our schools, there is also a School Based Lead that the ECTs can go to for help, support and guidance. Additionally, our ECTs are also overseen by the Trust Induction Tutor who works with them in a supportive capacity to oversee the assessment strand of their induction period conducted through regular observations, progress reviews and formal assessments against the Teacher’s Standards.

To support them in the early stages of their career all ECTs will have a reduced teaching timetable and protected time for the week for meetings with their subject mentor.
